Thinking about hiring me? Go check out my Available for work post first.

Everything I said the last time I was available for work, is still true. Go read that post. So instead of rehashing what has already been said (and seriously, if you’re here – it’s worth reading) .. I’m going to use this post to catch up what’s been happening since then.

Commit Your Code is a fantastic conference. I loved speaking at it in 2025 (below) and 2026 (above).

This year has been full. I was honored to participate as a judge at the September AI Collective Hackathon at UNT Frisco. Spoke at CYC again, joined Debt Blue as CTO and acting CIO. If you’re curious about some of my takeaways and lessons learned this year – my talk from CYC has been posted. I got to work with a great team, be a hands-on mentor to some great engineers (you can see what they wrote about me), and continue my participation with the Dallas Software Developers community.

Just before joining Debt Blue, I did some hands-on technical coaching at an airline. How hands on? Here’s me at one of the largest airports in the world with a jet and you can see the view from the top of the roof of one of the 12 story control towers. One of the things I love about software is the wide range of industries and contexts you get to work in. What a great experience!

Building with AI – something worth calling out in a big way, is the work I’ve done with engineers to improve how we work with AI in the development workflow and in the applications themselves. If you’re curious, I also wrote about 4 areas that companies should address with AI. It’s worth a read.
- At Charles Schwab, I was the Director of Developer Experience while we rolled out GitHub Co-Pilot (and a few other developer productivity tools – VS Code with Local Ollama models running for example) to nearly 7,000 engineers. This was a lot of fun as the CoPilot harness was so very new and seemed to change and improve on a weekly basis. I can’t even count the number of changes that happened from time we started our CoPilot Pilot and when we made it generally available to all developers. One of the key successes was in helping engineers understand the available options at the local (personal) level and at the repo level. Having an agents.md file is second nature now to almost everyone – but at the time – this was all very new!
- With American Airlines, where I contracted as a Technical Coach in their hands-on, full-emersion Dojo program, we worked hard to help teams continue to adopt GitHub CoPilot (with various models). It was great working, not just with engineers, but product owners as well. I got to help product teams leveraging various tool to streamline how they were authoring user stories and requirements for engineering teams. One big win was helping a DataBricks team move their Python work out of the Azure Web-based IDE to VS Code, where they could fully leverage the CoPilot plugin.
- At Debt Blue – I was fortunate to help the team adopt GitHub Copilot, Claude Code and platforms like ElevenLabs and RetellAI. One of the best improvements came from moving our Snowflake work out of the web-based IDE to VS Code where we could better leverage the various CoPilot/Claude plugins. It was great to, not only see the productivity improvements (and to hear the excitement directly from team members), but also to integrate LLM/voice technologies directly into our workflows and applications. This is also where I started working with n8n – and natural workflow tool to control much of our system flows and automations.
