Crazy Liberal Sayings

quotes

A friend of mine recently declared himself a “social liberal, but a fiscal conservative.”  Huh? I’ve heard this type of fence riding from more than one person… even from certain media pundits. I guess that means that they want the government to pay for everything… just not with their money.

I saw a bumper sticker recently. “War is not the answer.” Really? Doesn’t that depend on the question? When Hitler was killing Jews by the millions, war was the correct answer. When Japan wiped out our fleet in the pacific, war was the correct answer. When Afghanistan was providing safe refuge to those who had attacked us, killing over 3000 Americans, war was most definitely the correct answer. It bothers me that people can be so idiotic and short sighted, and yet still possess the ability to pass a drivers test and apparently maintain a steady job.

I think that these crazy liberal sayings reveal a deeper truth… they are backed by crazy liberal ideals and ideas. They reveal a truth that is central to the liberal mindset. It’s also another reason that I am so thankful that George W. Bush is our president, I personally think the John Scary probably agrees with these crazy liberal sayings.

  1. Sorry to disagree with you, please read more international news or have access to BBC News. You will be delighted to know that there is a bigger world out there where the news are not censured; and a lot of Amreicans also call home. Out from that war: a larger number of innocent people already died including young GIs other on both side will follow. Do not forget the incredible devaluation of the dollar, the price of Petrol and the huge USA deficit for 2004.

  3. You never have to feel sorry to disagree with me. Like I always say, as long as Jesus is your Lord, then one day we’ll all be in heaven, and you’ll see that I was right after all. 🙂 As for the BBC, I had to stop reading their articles, mostly because they tend to get so much wrong, so often. I’m always amazed by the English when they think that they understand Americans. They don’t; anymore than I understand them… or any other culture that I am not a part of. They only understand their own perception of Americans (Mostly, what they see from Hollywood I’m sad to say.)As far as war goes. The bumper sticker said, “War is not the answer.” My comment was, “Doesn’t that depend on the question?”. How could you possibly disagree with that statement, my Anonymous friend? It would be fine to say that “War is not always the answer.” How could anything always be or not be the answer? When the French are snooty, we don’t go to war; when China forces a single US plane to land, we don’t go to war; their are a great many things that war is not an appropriate answer. The point of my comment is that, their are times in history where war is the appropriate and correct response to the situation at hand. Only a fool of a country would remove military action as an available responce… We can disagree over the specifics of this most recent war to stop Saddam Hussein and liberate Iraq’s people, but even surely you can agree that their are times where war is indeed the answer. Merry Christmas!

  5. >Like I always say, as long as Jesus is your Lord, then one day we’ll all be in heaven, and you’ll see that I was right after all. :)Violating my own principles against mixing religion, politics, and programming, I wonder whether Jesus would say you were right. He never said “War is the answer”, and in fact, it could be argued that he seemed to lean in the opposite direction.I agree that the BBC is a much better source for news from a non-U.S. centric point of view. I think it is important for all to at least try to see the view from the other side, which I think Jesus would encourage. The French are perceived as snooty because they disagree with us, the Chinese force down our plane because they think (rightly so) that we are spying (the only disagreement was whether we were just inside or just outside their air space), so I don’t think those are great examples of American ‘tolerance’.I would agree that there is a place for war, but maybe it should be as a last resort when all other options have been tried. The current American policy of pre-emptive strikes is hard for me to support and I doubt if we would tolerate it from anyone else. Can you imagine our response if Russia decided to invade XXX because they thought it was a dangerous situation.FWIW, I am the Baptist son of a Southern Baptist minister raised in Texas, but I would rather our country spent more of its resources (money, people, etc) on the world’s “widows and orphans”, which I think Jesus would agree with.Sign me… Often mistaken, never unsure.

FWIW, I am the Baptist son of a Southern Baptist minister raised in Texas, but I would rather our country spent more of its resources (money, people, etc) on the world’s “widows and orphans”, which I think Jesus would agree with.

  7. If someone is a social liberal that means that they are more like a libertarian. They probably mean that they are liberal morally. I am very conservative morally, but I tend to be more in the middle fiscally.

  9. Let’s be careful quoting Jesus. For the record, I am not a Christian…but believers and non-believers alike agree, there is more death and destruction in the Bible, admittedly orchestrated by God, than recorded within the non-biblical history of the world. Where followers of Jesus disagree with those who do not believe in the divinity is rather or not such an entity can master such carnage and remain credulous. My point: Jesus (and God) have clearly indicated over and over that war is an answer.
